Patrick M. Murphy

Board Member

Patrick Murphy is a successful business executive with a life-long passion for public service and community affairs. Murphy joined Morgan Stanley in October 2010.

From 2006-2010, Murphy was the head of New York City’s Fashion/Retail Strategic Initiatives at the NYC Economic Development Corporation, a position established by Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg to support one of the largest industries in New York City.

Prior to joining the Bloomberg administration, Mr. Murphy spent over 15 years in marketing consulting and led large client engagements with Fortune 500 companies such as AT&T, American Express, Barnes & Noble, Prudential Insurance and Quaker Oats.  From 1999-2004, he served as a Vice President and Director at Digitas, a large direct marketing consulting concern. From 1994-1999 he served in various positions at FCBDirect, a large direct marketing company.  Murphy began his career at Jordan, McGrath, an advertising agency that has since merged into Arnold Worldwide.

Murphy was born and raised in Providence, Rhode Island.  He graduated from the Moses Brown School and received a BS in political science from the College of the Holy Cross.
